You might think nutritionists talk about nutrients and dietitians work in hospitals. Azmina is both a consultant nutritionist and award-winning registered dietitian, and in her unique style, she takes evidence-based nutrition and translates it into language the consumer can understand – and she doesn’t work in a hospital (anymore).
She’s a lively, vibrant and authoritative communicator. That’s one of the reasons why she’s a media spokesperson for the British Dietetic Association (BDA), resident dietitian for patient.info, a regular contributor to NHS Choices and a previous Campaign Dietitian for Change4life. She has been interviewed numerous times on television, radio, and in print media. Azmina is co-founder of the award-winning RDUK twitter chats and is often featured on bbc.co.uk. She demonstrated her healthy recipes at the BBC Good Food Show with Chris Bavin, and is one of the Judges for the Sugar Reduction Awards 2017.
Azmina’s recent speaking engagements include a talk at the International Congress of Dietetics (2016 Granada), on enticing dietitians and nutritionists to use social media to spread credible messages, and a presentation to dietitians and academics at Experimental Biology (2016 San Diego) on yogurt swaps and mindful eating. She presented the awards at the Sugar Reduction Summit in Nov 2017.
She’s also a best-selling author; amongst her 15 books, you’ll see The Gi Plan, with behavioural expert Nina Puddefoot, The Diabetes Weight Loss Diet with Antony Worrall Thompson, and Weight Watchers 123 Success Cookbook. Most of her books are published world-wide and have been translated into European and Eastern languages. And she loves to blog!
