Best-selling Author

Hello,

I’m Azmina, a registered dietitian, consultant nutritionist, best-selling author and global speaker.

I set up Azmina Nutrition as a freelance consultancy over 20 years ago and it was one of the best decisions I’ve made. I have a deep desire to make it easy for people to eat well by taking the science and translating it into digestible and achievable chunks of knowledge. I don’t think many people have the luxury of being able to work in a field that is true to their very essence, so I am grateful that my clients have given me a platform to make what I love my day job.

My recent projects have centred around plant-based eating, which have culminated in the publication of Vegan Savvy, a guide to vegan nutrition that’s filled with colourful infographics and realistic tips. (By the way, I am not vegan). My foundation in diabetes and obesity, my work with BAME communities on behalf of Public Health England, and now my specialisation in plant-based diets help me bring up-to-date expertise into my work.

As background, after my post-graduate qualification in Nutrition and Dietetics at King’s College London, I worked in a clinical setting within the NHS and then spent eight years as Chief Dietitian and Head of Diet Information Services to Diabetes UK. I was responsible for policies on national dietary recommendations for people with diabetes, and can still remember debating the latest research with esteemed academics such as the late Professor David Southgate and Dr Mike Lean.

One of my career highlights has been having breakfast with President Jimmy Carter!

Having my own business allows me to also have balance in my life. So I often get to spend time with my family, take yoga classes, go for walks in the park and have friends over to enjoy deliciously healthy food.
